As SunWest continues to grow, so does our involvement in the community. We may be among the best at exceeding member expectations, but we are even better at giving back to the neighborhoods in which we serve. From company-wide food drives to charity sponsorships, SunWest knows what it means to make a community stronger. Take a look at just a few of the programs you could be involved with as a member of the SunWest family.
2012 Community Outreach
T.A.P.S.: SunWest was a proud sponsor of the 2012 golf tournament benefiting the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
Zuni Hills Elementary: SunWest created and donated kid-friendly check registers so elementary school students could begin learning about personal finances.
Keep Phoenix Beautiful: SunWest partnered with the organization to raise awareness about sustainability and the importance of a clean environment.
Tucson Earth Day Festival: SunWest was a proud sponsor of the 18th annual Tucson Earth Day Festival in 2012. We handed out goodie bags and hosted a coloring contest for children. We donated $101 to the USDA Forest Service to replant areas destroyed by wildfires.
Packages from Home: SunWest collected 645 pounds of candy and donated it to Packages from Home to include in care packages sent to U.S. service men and women.
Millennium High School: SunWest sponsored the school’s Band Boosters’ Golf Tournament and provided goodie bags with SunWest items and ways to raise more money for the school’s band.
Holiday Food Drive: We kicked off a food drive at all 7 SunWest branches to collect food for local food banks. We collected 282 pounds of food in our Phoenix branches, which was donated to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. In Tucson, we donated our food to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
KMLE Country Cares: SunWest partnered with KMLE Country to sponsor the Country Cares Radiothon benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Walk Now for Autism Speaks: SunWest sponsored the water station at the walk at Tempe Beach Park to help support the children and families living with Autism.
Mesa Police Department: SunWest has sponsored the Mesa Police Department for multiple events including the “Wheels n’ Wings Car Show,” which benefited the Mesa Public Safety Foundation that supports Mesa Police and Fire/Medical Departments.
VIN Etch Community Events: SunWest hosts a number of VIN etch events throughout the year to support the local police departments and help protect our members from auto theft. Last year alone we protected over 275 vehicles. As always, we donated $5 to the local food banks for every car etched, which came out to be $1,030 or roughly 7,210 meals.
